There is only one current player on the list, who scored most runs in international test cricket for India and current Test captain.

Sachin Tendulkar (1989 – 2013): Indian legend Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar is placed at the top position in the list of who scored highest runs in Test for India.  Sachin scored 15,921 runs in a total of 329 innings in 200 matches.

Tendulkar has the record for the most centuries in Tests with 51 centuries. He started his Test career against Pakistan in 1989 and played his last test match against West Indies in 2013.




 

Rahul Dravid (1989 –2013): In the list of players who have scored more runs in Test Cricket for India Right-handed batsman Rahul Dravid is in second place. Dravid has scored 13,288 runs in his 16 year-long Test career from 1996 to 2012.

He scored 13,288 runs in 164 matches. He has 36 Test hundreds as well as 63 fifties in his test career. Rahul played his first test in 1996 against England as well as the last match against Australia in 2012.

Sunil Gavaskar (1971–1987): Sunil Gavaskar is the 3rd most runs scorer in the Tests for India. He scored 10,122 runs in 125 tests. He has 34 hundred and 45 half-centuries. 236* is his highest runs in his Test career.

VVS Laxman (1996 – 2012): In the list of players who have scored more runs in Test cricket for India right-handed batsman VVS Laxman is in fourth place. VVS has scored 8781 runs in his 16 years long ODI career from 1996 to 2012.




 

Virender Sehwag (2001–2013): In the list of players who have scored more runs in Test Cricket for India Right-handed batsman Sehwag is in fifth place. He has scored 8586 runs in his Test career from 2001 to 2013.

Sourav Ganguly (1996 – 2008): In the list of players who have scored most runs in Test cricket for India, Sourav Ganguly is the sixth player.  He is a left-handed batsman and former Indian captain. Sourav Ganguly has scored 7212 runs in his 12 year-long Test career from 1996 to 2008.

Virat Kohli (2011 – 2019*): Virat Kohli is the only current player to scoring 7000 runs in Test cricket in the Indian cricket team. Virat is the seventh-highest scorer in the Test Cricket for India. He scored 7054 runs in 81 matches. Kohli has 26 hundred, 7 double hundreds and 22 half-centuries.

Dilip Vengsarkar (1976 –1992): Dilip Vengsarkar is the eight most runs scorer in Test cricket for India with 6868 runs in 116 matches. He has 17 centuries and 35 half-centuries in his 16 years test career.




 

Mohammad Azharuddin (1985 – 2000): Mohammad Azharuddin is the ninth high scorer in Test Cricket. He scored 6215 runs in a total of 99 Tests.  He has 22 hundred and 21 half-centuries in his Test career. 199 is his highest score in Tests.

Gundappa Viswanath (1983-1969): Gundappa Viswanath is the tenth most runs scorer in the Test cricket for India. He scored 6080 runs in 91 tests. He has 14 centuries and 35 half-centuries, 222 is his highest score in the test cricket.
