The Vijay Hazare Trophy, well known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy (List A Cricket tournment), domestic level cricket. It was started in 2002–03 as a limited-overs cricket involving state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates. It is named after the famous Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare.

Vijay Hazare was an Indian cricketer, who represented Indian Test Cricket team as a right-handed batsman and captain also.  He captained India in 14 Test matches between 1951 and 1953. In India’s 25th Test match, nearly 20 years after India achieved Test status, he led India to its first ever Test cricket win in 1951–52 against England at Madras, winning by an innings and eight runs. It is the only victory under his captaincy.

Hazare is the first Indian batsman to score a triple century in first-class cricket while he is the first Indian to score a century in each innings of a Test match. Hazare is the Indian player to score a century in three successive Test matches.

The 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy was the 18th season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was won the Karnataka team by 60 runs (VJD method) against Tamil Nadu team, through this win  Tamil Nadu won their 4th Vijay Hazre title beating Tamil Nadu in the finals.

Tamil Nadu is the most successful team having won the trophy 5 times. Karnataka are the current champions(2019-20) who won their 4th title beating Tamil Nadu in the finals.
