India vs Australia ODI series a final test to World Cup aspirants

After a disappointing T20I series against Australia team India will continue to experiment so that  they can figure out the final World Cup squad after the five match ODI series against Australia which starts on Saturday.

“Every team will look to fine-tune whatever they need before the World Cup and we’ll keep doing that in the ODI series too, but we still want to win every match we play” Indian skipper Virat Kohli said after the second T20 in Bengaluru.

For four players the series will be like a ‘pre-test’ before the World Cup 2019, good scores in the series will ensure that they get the pass to World Cup as a player rather than a spectator.

KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar and Siddarth Kaul are the four players who are fighting for two available slots in the 15 member squad for World Cup.

However for Rahul, Pant, Shankar and Kaul the upcoming Five match ODI series will be the last chance to prove their skills whenever they are part of the playing XI.

Squads:

India (1st and 2nd ODI): Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (c), Ambati Rayudu, Lokesh Rahul, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Kuldeep Yadav, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia: Aaron Finch (c), Alex Carey, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, D Arcy Short, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner, Pat Cummins, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Lyon, Adam Zampa and Andrew Tye.
